Lifestyles of the famous

Today was the second ceremony, in France at a refuge just over the border (via the mountains) from the refugio Elisabetta in Italy. It rained but stopped for after lunch.
At today's ceremony, taps was played, and a flag was presented by the USAF LtCol Sonkiss and the honor guard to Anne Cobb. Then they played the US, Italian, and French national anthems. I choked up during the Star Spangled Banner.
The 12 flags we brought found a good use as gifts to the kids. I'm not sure if the significance of there being 8 flags, or of their having only 48 stars was comprehended, but they still had fun with them. Brooks held the French flag and Hudson the Italian.
The ex-honor guard in me had to refrain from too many flag etiquette lectures. :).
Tonight we dine with Anne Cobb as her guests (a big group).
Aaron and Kirstie are on the way to the rest of their vacation and back to the UK.
Oh, apparently we not only made the papers, but also the TV news.
